A Deficit in the Trillions

Yesterday, while watching the news services, I found myself reflecting on the power of the media, and what that power means to us all.

Years ago, just as now, everyone had opinions. Some of these were enlightened, many others were full of envy, jealousy, superstition, assumptions, inaccuracies, hatred, and fear. In short, as Jefferson would put it, many minds were enslaved by lies and inaccuracies.

Back then, just as now, folks varied in their capacity for awareness, the personal power that they developed, the strength of their vision, and how well they could channel Truth, Love, and Wisdom. Strong dreamers had a great influence on the collective dream of humanity, weak dreamers had much less influence. Some of that influence was a result of their words, some a result of their presence, and some a result of the power of love that they channeled from the unmanifest.

The electronic media has changed everything. Now anyone can have a very profound and strong influence on the collective dream, and therefore intrude into our individual dreams and interpersonal interactions, regardless of their personal power or their awareness. There is liberty (again, as Jefferson would put it), but not necessarily light.

Let's say you are broadcasting a "news" program every morning or evening across America. You reach something like 30 million households, 300 days a year. That is 9 billion episodes of direct communication. Each year.

In that newscast, you deliver a dozen messages, which (and I am being charitable), 10 of which are fear-based, inaccurate, inflammatory, and divisive. 2 might be reassuring, healing, accomodating, and increasing of consciousness. That is 90 billion stress and discord inducing messages.

Your career spans 15 years of broadcasting. You have communicated a deficit of love 1.35 trillion times! If each of your viewers influences through their conversations an average of 3 friends, neighbors, and work mates, for each piece of information, 4 trillion. I think you get the picture.

There is a lot to account for. And it also explains a lot.

The good news is that folks with awareness are powerful dreamers, because they are penetrated by more of life and they are more penetrating. Their influence goes beyond the written or spoken word to the very core of being, a transmission of silent knowledge. That is why we still have 55% of all kids raised with secure attachment and love. (That's 3.3 billion each day across the world. If every one transmits love with a glance, a smile, a hug, a moment of true listening, a moment of silence 10 times a day (again, I am being conservative), that is 10 trillion acts of love annually.)

I know this may sound like fun, or a joke, but it really is a serious business. The collective human dream depends upon the balance of influence and awareness.
Aware folks don't expect to agree because they know they each have a different point of view. They listen, digest, assimilate and modifywhatever information comes in. They use different points of view to create something greater than the parts, something that unifies by transcending and taking into account different points of view.

2 year olds point fingers and blame others, and run to mama.
5 year olds twist the truth and shout down opposition in an attempt to win or deflect blame.
12 year olds start answering before the teacher is done speaking so they can look cool and clever to their peers or themselves.
Most of the discourse on our news and our entertainment is at the 2 year old, 5 year old or 12 year old level. Isn't that a pity? It is a deficit in the trillions every year. A force opposing love, opposing awareness, opposing light.

It takes an adult to truly listen, to reflect, and to let awareness and knowledge stew inside them until there is more awareness and more light.

Join me in dreaming large, and listening. Join me in opening the gates of Light and Liberty. Let us pray and meditate outside our media outlets for light to have its way with them. Let us transform this dream. You do have the power. Do you have any other pressing engagements?

The work continues and this effort is just beginning.

With love and light,

Dr. Gene

It's The Economy, Stupid!

This morning I listened in to a discussion on Capitol Hill. The Senator asked, "do you feel that your agency's oversight was a failure?" She was referring to FNIC's audit every two years of an individual who ran a 50 billion dollar Ponzi scheme. "Isn't it a failure when every two years you reviewed the books and didn't notice that no trades had actually taken place?"

The individual responded to her with "I think that the system failed us. I cannot answer specifically whether that agency failed until I have had a deeper conversation with them."

The answer jarred me. It might have been legally correct, but everyone in the room, his supporters and naysayers, and he himself knew it was a clever lie, a justification for something that quite clearly could not ever really be justified.

I know that I could have been angry or indignant. I just had to laugh.
What is real clear, is that this individual was invested only in the integrity of his rear end, not Integrity as a living force of clarity and manifestation. Instead of dwelling on how wrong he was, I used my mudra for atonement to ask that a channel of justice, light, and balance be manifested in this place on Earth, where there once was the misuse of energy.

When I gaze into Integrity, (which we use the picture of George Washington on the quarter to represent), I notice three elements: impeccability of the word; self-contained, economy of using energy; and attunement to finding harmony.

Part of the challenge we are facing is in the task of restoring integrity, not only to our leaders in Washington, or our institutions, but within ourselves. If we were a society that promoted and supported impeccability in our words, actions, and gestures, this individual would never have considered such a response. Probably there would never have been a need to have a "congressional hearing" in the first place.

This individual is not evil. Most likely he simply overextended his energy. Most of us are so busy supporting ideas, ambitions, projects, the requirements of social etiquette, that we have overextended our energy and our attention. When this happens we stress ourselves out, and we are tempted to compromise with our integrity.

During this last inaugural ceremony, once again the Shaker Hymn, "Tis a blessing to be simple ... tis a blessing to be free" was played, by a joyful Yo Yo Ma and ensemble in a freezing 29 degree Washington morning.

This hymn, really the unofficial anthem of American values, is like gold. "To be simple" is a blessing -- and one of the great openings to being free in your mind, and having liberty as a person or nation.

I have been working this year with my various skype groups (and you can join them if you e-mail me at huntravel@aol.com) with crisp and clean energy. Why? Because our great frustrations in life for the most part come from OUR manifestations of OUR creative energies, not from the circumstances of the society and land that we live in.

If our ship is not ship-shape, if there are barnacles encrusting our keel, if our sails are tattered and scattered about the deck, no matter how clear and forceful your statement of intents are, Intent has a hard time helping us to create our artistic vision for our life.

Just like our bankbooks and our federal and state economies, we too have been overcommitted. We don't simply start and then finish a compact unit of creation before commencing on the next one. We often invest the energy we would need to complete them in drama and new enterprises rather than in completion. Consequently nothing ever gets completed and appreciated. Nothing ever gets resolved. Not the books we are planning to write, nor the relationships with family that we planned to resolve before we died.

We are in constant stress because the restorative signal of the Sigh of Completion is never given the body. The satisfaction of a job well done can only be experienced by our Integrity when the job is truly done. This is not about what we say, or even what is printed on a banner on the deck of an aircraft carrier years before our adventure in Iraq is likely to be over. It is about what we feel deep inside in our core. What that witness the Upanishads call the Self has seen.

I had a beautiful night last night writing an accounting of where I am in my personal energy economy. All the projects that I had partially began, and never finished. Behind each uncompleted project was either a faulty agreement, an unacknowledged and dealt with fear, or a question of clarification that had never been asked or answered. Either way, the direction is clear.

Crisp and clean. One step, one moment at a time.

Whether it is our banking system, our government, or our very lives, it is the economy, stupid!

With love and clear direction,

dr. Gene

The Lucid Dream

In 2001, shortly after 9/11, I was sitting at the foot of don Miguel Ruiz in Teotihuacan.
I had what I describe as a vision. I was awake, not asleep, and yet the fabric of the world that I perceived shifted completely.
I was sitting inside a toltec pyramid, and as I sat, a tube of light appeared, transporting me to the Washington Monument.
It was a profound moment. A clear message: The beauty, the amazing light and joy, and personal freedom that I experienced at that moment should be brought home, to the land where I grew up and knew so well. Just as the pyramids of the sun and moon, the various temples at Teo and Tetitla were gates to open up consciousness. These monuments on the mall in Washington D.C. and elsewhere in the world, could also include such gates that could serve mankind.
The power of Teotihuacan is available to anyone who passes through the ruins, but perceived by only those who are open to it. In a similar way, the monuments of Washington (which are layed out in a similar pattern, BTW), could be a lantern of "light and liberty" (Jefferson) for all mankind.
Even though transportation to the nation's capital was restricted, I found myself at the foot of the Washington monument within 2 weeks of this vision.
A small group assembled with me at the foot -- we prayed and meditated and did a good deal of healing work right then and there.
Thus began this fabulous adventure of healing!
The 41 cent project, and my subsequent power journeys to D.C. were all born in that year.
Once again, we are invited and called to open these monuments and symbols to light, to freedom and liberty, and to return ourselves to integrity. The work has already begun. You can already experience it and feel it at the Washington Monument, the Jefferson memorial, Lincoln memorial, and Roosevelt memorials.
I ask you to charge your coins and go out and make a contribution. You will feel yourself more solid and full of light. Your future and your children's future on this planet will be brighter. And we may be able to preserve the land of freedom that this continent has inspired on Earth.
I invite you to visit D.C. and sit at these monuments, and link your intent to these aspirations.

With all my love and blessings,

Dr. Gene

Now that there is a new administration, what's left to do?

With all the hallyballoo in Washington, a new administration at the helm, some are wondering, "Is the work done? Have we completed our work?"
Since we are non-partisan and non-sectarian, we should also ask, "Is it now hopeless?"
In my opinion, the answer is "Neither."
If we are to help this great nation of ideas and principles to re-empower itself, we must help folks practice conscious intent at all levels: the leadership, our institutions, and in the minds and actions of people.
We help the leadership by taking journeys to the places of power, human and natural to pray and meditate and engage.
We the institutions by showing up, being present, and refraining from hatred, competition, domination. We can be there silently or express our opinions out loud, but above all, our job is to wish well all who are touched by the work of these institutions. Thus we do not need to withdraw from school boards, city council meetings, police stations, hospitals, libraries, religious institutions, or neighborhood watch groups. Just silently sit and wish folks well.
We help people themselves by opening gates of freedom. We leave seeds of love, in the form of 41 cents -- a pile of a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and a penny. This opens the gates of integrity, gratitude and generosity, light and liberty, and real justice.
This action, so simple and yet so powerful, can trigger subconsciously the minds of folks to return to integrity, enlightened thinking, forgiveness and creating fairness, and prosperity.
I wish all of you well. I wish for you prosperity. I wish you freedom from doubt, fear, hatred, and limiting ideas.

41 cents

The New Year

May the dream of personal freedom, enlightenment, prosperity, and justice never "perish from this land".

The coins of the United States bear the faces of great dreamers:  25 cents = Washington, 5 cents = Jefferson, 1 cent = Lincoln, 10 cents = Roosevelt.

Washington encompassed integrity, Jefferson light and liberty, Lincoln for justice with mercy, and the Roosevelts for gratitude and generosity, leading to prosperity.

Each of these great dreamers espoused and intended these boons to our nation and have helped propel us forward as a nation of ideas and principles rather than a country based on ethnicity, cuisine, strong military might, and riches.  Their contribution has been noted and is reflected on their presence on the coins, on Mt. Rushmore, and on the great memorials on the mall in Washington D.C.

I invite you to place these coins out on the street with intention and faith, invoking these principles to become manifest in our nation and in ourselves.  The force of our collective intent cannot fail to make us a stronger people in spiritual power, truer to ourselves, and better custodians of our land and our dream for freedom.  Together they cost less than a postage stamp, but are more powerful than a 700 billion dollar bailout.  This is action anyone can take on their own behalf!

The force for love and healing will become inevitable and unstoppable.
In time our leaders, our institutions, and our fellow citizens will be restored to our birthright, the integrity with which we were born!
